Winter Outfit Inspiration For The Never-Ending Polar Vortex

Happy Wednesday, everyone! If you’re a Torontonian like me, you know that we’ve been stuck in a polar vortex for a while. Sure, we may have some days where a glimpse of warm-weather hope shines through, but overall, frigid cold temperatures have become the daily norm.

It’s easy for style to take a hit when it’s -30 degrees outside, but I wanted to share some outfits that are both warm and stylish for the never-ending polar vortex. If you’ve been looking for some winter outfit inspiration to get your through these cold, snowy days, I have 7 outfits for you!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #1: Turtleneck and Velvet Jumper

One thing I really love about winter style is that you can layer clothing in so many different ways. As soon as I saw this jumpsuit at Joe Fresh, I knew I had to have it!

I originally bought it for a family Christmas party and a New Year’s Eve party. For the NYE party, I wore it sans turtleneck, and for the Christmas party, I wore it with this Aritzia turtleneck underneath, which has now become one of my favourite winter outfits!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #2: Midi Skirt and Sweater

I love the midi skirt and sweater look (both are from H&M)! It’s such a cozy, comfortable outfit that looks super chic! Of course, for the winter you’ll want to wear nude tights with this ensemble so your legs don’t freeze outside!

Even with the tights, you may want to wait for one of those in-between-the-polar-vortex days as harsh winds can make it really cold and tough to walk around in a skirt without it blowing every which way. It’s the perfect outfit for the office…wear your boots to work and change into a pair of kitten heels like these ones from Aldo!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #3: Faux Leather Leggings and Flouncy Blouse

This outfit is perfect for a date night with your S.O., girls’ night or an after-work event. These faux leather leggings from Aritzia have been my go to leggings the past few winters.

They are so warm and the material is pretty thick, so definitely a great option for winter weather! Pair leather leggings with a flouncy top for a more dressy look!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #4: Faux Leather Leggings and Long Sweater

Another great option to pair with faux leather leggings is a long cozy sweater! This V-neck sweater is from H&M and has become my go-to these past few weeks. I love it with these leggings and also love it tucked in to a pair of jeans!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #5: Sweaters, Sweaters, Sweaters

While bottoms are a little more restricted in the winter, over the spring and summer months, there are tons of gorgeous sweater options to keep you warm and make you look chic AF!

My top place to get sweaters this winter has been H&M– I’m loving their selection these days! Most of the sweaters below are from H&M, except for the grey one (third one down), which is from Forever 21!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #6: Faux Fur Jacket and Jeans

I found this jacket on major sale at H&M and absolutely love it! It’s perfect with a pair of jeans and a sweater underneath. I added gold hoop earrings and lace up booties to pull together this look!

Winter Outfit Inspiration #7: Teddy Coat, Turtleneck and Black Jeans

I’ve been living for teddy coats this fall/winter season! This one is from Ardene and it is SO warm!!! It’s not a coat you should wear outside in -30 degree weather, but it’s great for when it warms up and you can also wear it cardigan-style inside!
