Hey babes! Self care has really been on my mind lately. I feel so much better when I take time to treat myself – and the thing is, it doesn’t have to be big things – it’s the little ways you consistently treat and take care of yourself that make all the difference! It’s all about taking a little more time for yourself, especially at this time of year when the winter blues hit and the stress of the holidays commences. When life is go-go-go, we tend to put ourselves last, but consciously making an effort to take care of yourself (physically and mentally) can have a huge impact on how we feel on a daily basis.
Here are 7 little ways I love to treat myself on a weekly, monthly, (and sometimes daily) basis to boost my mood and make me feel good!
Latte love
I love treating myself to a good latte! I don’t buy lattes every day, but it is something I love to treat myself with on a weekly basis (or sometimes a couple times a week). I have a lot of meetings at coffee shops, so that’s often when I’ll get them. There’s something about treating yourself to a warm drink in the winter that just makes you feel so good! I usually opt for tea lattes like a chai latte or London fog, mmm it makes me happy just thinking about it.
Yoga classes
Yoga classes aren’t cheap, but yoga is one of my favourite ways to practice self care, so it’s totally worth it. The studio I go to has something called class passes, which means you can buy classes in bulk and they don’t expire for a year. So you don’t have to go a certain number of times a month to make it worth it! I like to go once or twice a month, sometimes more if I feel like I need it. For me, it’s a way to get outside the hustle and bustle of life and focus on yourself for an hour and a half with absolutely no distractions.
Buy new books
There are so many amazing books I want to read, and I’m definitely a hard cover girl. I can’t do kindles or anything like that. I love actually holding and reading a book. I stare at a screen all day so it’s a nice rest for the eyes. And there’s something about buying and digging into a new book that just feels so good! I always order my books online and I love getting them in the mail!

Order take out
I’m writing this on a Friday afternoon and I’m so excited because tonight me and one of my best friends are ordering Thai takeout, watching a movie and having wine!! I love having nights like this and takeout is a really nice way to treat yourself from time to time. I know a lot of people who eat out the majority of their meals, and that’s so not me. I make most of my meals at home, so ordering take out is really a treat for me! And I have to admit, Thai is my absolute fave! When I went to Thailand a few years ago, I had no problem eating it every day, multiple times a day, for a month.
Buy flowers/plants
I love having flowers and plants in the apartment. They give life to the space and it’s a great way to bring nature in when the temperature drops below zero. I’ve been wanting a fiddle leaf fig plant for the longest time and my friend surprised me with one a few weeks ago (didn’t I tell you I have THE best friends). It’s a baby, but I’m going to try to grow it! I absolutely love the look of them! And you can never go wrong with a bouquet of flowers to brighten up your home in the winter!
Do a face mask
I’ve been doing more face masks lately, and it’s quickly become one of my favourite ways to relax and treat myself. In the winter especially, your skin is more dry and dehydrated, so face masks are great for exfoliation and replenishing your skin. The only one I use is the Lumiere de Vie Volcanic Exfoliating Mask. It’s the best. It’s a mask and exfoliator in one and makes my skin feel SO incredibly soft! I like to do a mask 1-2 times per week, especially in the winter.
Retail therapy
Let’s face it, nothing feels as good as treating yourself to some new clothing. For fall/winter, I love big cozy sweaters and leggings, and if I want to dress up a little more, I go for a dress, jacket and warm tights! These pink sweaters from Tobi are so warm and cozy. I love the ruffle detail on the sleeves of the Rachel Sweatshirt and the Sadie swing dress will be perfect for my holiday parties! I’ll be linking all the pieces from my outfits below. As you can tell I’m really into blush and black right now!

Chai tea lattes are my go to drink as well. I haven’t had london fog but I’ve heard it’s delicious. I treat myself to a chai tea latte, a couple of times a week, put on a mask or buy myself a new clothing piece as well. I love that self care can be something as simple as painting your toenails or exercising which I make sure to do a couple of times a week.
Kate
Exactly! It can be something so simple that just makes you feel so good! Now I’m craving a chai latte 😛 Thanks so much for stopping by! Xx

Hey Kate, love your outfit choice! <3 And I completely agree with you about reading from a physical book. As much as I like the convenience aspect of Kindles and iPads, my eyes actually start hurting if I look at screens for a long period of time. So in my case, the old school method of reading is literally a self-care tip that I try to implement as often as I can.
Kate
Thank you so much! And I totally agree, my eyes always need a break from screens. My eyes are getting so bad 🙁 And I’m sure it’s due to the amount of time I spend staring at a computer/phone screen all day! It’s something so important to keep in mind!

I love treating myself to the occasional Latte (Vanilla with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top), and a nice hot bath. It is so important to remember to care for ourselves, especially at this time of the year when we are so busy making the season merry for others!
Kate
Yes, it’s so true!! And that latte sounds amazing, I’m definitely going to go with that next time 🙂 <3

LOVE LOVE LOVE the ‘buying new books’ suggestion! I find fiction is great for self-care because it allows for an escape from reality. Helps my mind not focus so much on All The Things I have to do!
Kate
That’s such a great addition to my post! Fiction can totally take you into a new space and help take your mind off of the hustle and bustle of daily life!!

Yes to all of these! Such great ways to take care of ourselves, because the little treats really tend to put me in a better mood. Like grabbing a coffee and heading to the flower market. I also love yoga and started doing it at home again, and it makes such a difference not just physically but mentally. Thanks for sharing!
Kate
Hey Nichole! Yes! Love yoga so much! It’s really so good for you both physically and mentally! And it’s so true, the smallest ways we treat ourselves are often the most helpful <3

These are excellent suggestions! Winter is all about self-care, I think. That includes indulging in holiday festivities once in a while, like this post says: https://www.paleofx.com/paleo-feast-ancestral-indulgences/
