Awesome Yoga Apparel: Finding My Flow with FLOW-active

As you guys know, yoga has become a huge part of my life. I practice for relaxation, health, strength, flexibility and so much more. An important part of yoga is feeling comfortable and healthy in your own skin and this is undoubtedly connected to what you choose to wear while you practice.
To ensure you’re getting the most out of your yoga time, it’s key to chose yoga apparel that allows for movement, flexibility and breathability.
Enter FLOW-Active, a local (Toronto) based yoga apparel and activewear store that carries Canada-made products in an array of styles, colours and prints. Plus, all of their goods are eco- and ethically-friendly meaning NO sweatshop labour. Shopping local (whether it’s clothing, food, etc.) is sometimes easier said than done. Yes, local products are usually more pricey but there’s a reason for that – it comes down to the safety and health environments of the people who make the clothing we wear. Something I love about FLOW-active is their mandate towards social responsibility. All of their products are made by Canadians working in safe working conditions at fair wages. And the other great part? Their products are reasonably priced and totally worth the money you spend!
I recently came across FLOW-active when a friend of mine started working there and was immediately drawn to what they stand for and the versatile products they offer. Not only will I be wearing their pieces to yoga class, but they are perfect for casual-wear and some even work for a night on the town! Take this Loko Sport top I’m wearing for example. The mesh inset dresses up the active apparel, making it totally night out-ready.

Tonic and Loko Sport are just two of the amazing brands FLOW-active carries in house and online. Others include Karma, Dedicated, Tonia Debellis and Lazypants.

Tonic products are designed and made in Vancouver, Canada, tapping the needs of active women everywhere. Their environmentally-responsible manufacturing process results in beautiful products that are durable, comfortable and of the highest quality. Being environmentally responsible means they don’t use toxic processing chemicals which means WE have cleaner and healthier materials to wear. These Tonic court crop leggings immediately caught my eye and I knew I had to have them as soon as I put them on. The fabric feels so durable and they fit like a glove! Not too tight, not too loose and the light grey heathering is the ideal pattern for the warmer, summer months.

I also fell for this Loko Sport mesh tank right away! How cool is it?! The Loko Sport Eco-conscious Collection and Active/lifestyle Collection are designed and manufactured in Ontario, Canada, with all their materials coming from Canadian fabric distributors. Loko Sport guarantees local production, boasting a positive and ethical work environment for their employees. They manufacture their products with ‘smart’ fabrics that are anti-bacterial, breathable and offer UV protection (yoga on the beach, anyone?), and use other awesome materials such as eco-friendly bamboo and viscose. They carry size 6 (XS) all the way to size 22, fitting and inclusive to a huge range of body types and sizes. This is amazing and so important; something that I think all companies should strive to implement.
