Brand I Love: Cambio Market

I received a free product for this post, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Hello everyone! I know it’s been a while since I’ve posted, but I was on a vacation in Maui, and as much as I love this little blog of mine, I just couldn’t pull myself away from the perfect weather, daily happy hours, and beautiful beaches. But don’t worry, I’ll be posting a Maui travel guide here soon, so be sure to check back! One of my favourite things to do on vacation is eat at new restaurants, and of course, get all dressed up to try out said restaurants. And the cherry on top of any good outfit? Accessories of course. As soon as I laid eyes on this chevron necklace from Cambio Market I knew I had to add it to my collection. Not only is it gorgeous, but the Toronto brand offers ethically and responsibly-made jewelry at a really affordable price point.
All of the products from Cambio Market are handmade, ethically sourced, fair trade (aka ALL workers get fair wages, and healthy and respectful working conditions), and every product gives back to a local cause. I get so excited when I come across a local brand that is doing SO much good. It makes my heart so happy and also urges me to always think about what and where I’m buying from.

When we shop, we have the power to choose how we want to live our lives and spend our money. Buying from brands that are committed to things such as social good and responsible materials is one step towards changing our world for the better. I know it may be hard to buy EVERYTHING locally and ethically, but doing research and even starting to implement more pieces like this into our lives is an important step in the right direction.

I was immediately drawn to this necklace due to its beauty and uniqueness. It’s perfect to wear for a fancy night out or even if you want to glam up a more casual outfit. For dinner in Maui one night I paired it with this sparkly t-shirt dress and these patterned wedges and it was a really nice combination.

Even though it was love at first sight, I fell even more deeply in love with the necklace when I found out more about who made it. It was made by a brand called Purpose Jewelry (which Cambio Market carries), which is the social enterprise division of a non-profit called International Sancuatry that rescues young women from sex trafficking.

All of the women rescued are given access to mentoring programs and provided with an education, medical and dental care, scholarships and more to prepare them for a bright future. Each piece from Purpose Jewelry is made by a survivor in Mumbai, India, and prepared, packaged and shipped by survivors in Orange County, California. Pretty sweet, right?

It makes me feel so great to know exactly where, and by who, this necklace was made and packaged, and know that they are working in respectful working environments at fair wages. Cambio Market does extensive research on all their suppliers to make sure the products are sourced from socially responsible businesses that meet high standards of product quality and social impact.

I’m always on the lookout for amazing brands like this! If you know of any more, let’s chat in the comments below!
