Happy Friday my loves! I’m so excited to share today’s post with you guys because it’s a topic I feel really passionately about. Diversifying your income streams is one of the best ways to get ahead and secure your financial future. Did you know that a common trend among millionaires is that they have multiple sources of income?
They don’t rely on just one income stream, which ensures their security if anything was to happen to one of their income sources. And why not make as much money as possible?
When I was growing up, I was pretty much taught to go to school and get a job, and all will be well. But times have changed. That system may have worked for our parents’ generation, but the price of living has gone up (and is still going up) SO much that it’s nearly impossible to live on one income.
Well, it may be possible to live on one, but you won’t save much! That’s why having a side hustle (or a few side hustles) is a really great idea. And the best thing about a side hustle? You can create a side hustle that focuses on one of your biggest passions. And who knows! Maybe that side hustle can become your full time hustle one day!
Here are 9 creative side hustles to boost your income!
1) Start a Blog
Any surprise that this is the first side hustle on my list? Starting a blog comes first because it’s my side hustle (hopefully turned full hustle soon!). There are a lot of different ways to make money with a blog, from affiliate marketing to sponsored posts, ads and creating a product/service.
Plus, it’s an amazing project to start if you’re creative and love to write! Imagine getting paid by your dream brands to create content? To make money promoting products you use and love? To generate income by growing your traffic and page views?

2) Get Paid to Shop Online
This is one of my other favourite ways to make extra income! Have you heard of Shop.com? It’s an online platform that’s partnered with some of my favourite stores like Indigo, Hudson’s Bay, Forever 21, Club Monaco, Anthropologie, Etsy, NIKE, Expedia, Groupon, and so many more! It’s free to sign up as a customer and if you shop online it just makes so much sense! Check out the tutorial below to see how it works and start earning cash back ASAP!
3) Start an Etsy Store
If you’re someone who loves to create, consider starting an Etsy store to sell your crafts. On the Etsy marketplace, you can sell everything from jewellery and accessories to clothes and shoes, art and collectibles, home and living, and more. It’s a great place to find one-of-a-kind pieces, so if you know you have something to offer, it’s time to get yourself started on the platform! There’s a $0.26 listing fee and once you make a sale, Etsy takes a commission of 3.5%, but the rest is all yours!
4) Create a Course
You can create a course on anything these days! I was listening to a podcast last week (I can’t remember which one it was!) but they told a story about a woman who created a course on making sourdough bread – and it took off!
She ended up making tons of money and creating more courses on sourdough bread. And you don’t need to be an “expert” to create a course! You just have to be a few steps ahead of others to be able to teach them something of value.
5) Freelance Writing
Do you love to write? With so many online publications, from blogs to business websites to online magazines, there are plenty of opportunities to make money writing.
This is actually where I make the bulk of my income right now, so I know it’s possible to make AT LEAST a side income from it. And you can write just about everything – food, fashion, cars, beauty, jewellery, tech, apps, travel, celebrity, the list goes on.

6) Sell at a Local Farmer’s Market
If you grow vegetables and fruits in your garden, or love to make homemade goodies, sell your items at a local farmers market. It’s a great way to get yourself out there and make some additional income selling stuff you love to make.
A great tip for getting repeat customers at farmers markets? Ask customers to re-use your containers for a discount. This will get your logo circulating and also give them a reason to return!
7) Start a Youtube Channel
Like a blog, you can make money with a Youtube channel with affiliate marketing and sponsored content. Video is going to be huge from here on out (bigger than it already is), so you may as well get your foot in the door now if you’re looking to start.
If you love creating beauty looks, DIYs, hair tutorials, travel videos, recipes, or any other type of video tutorials, a Youtube channel is a great creative side hustle to boost your income!
8) Create a Cookbook
If you love to bake and cook, why not write a cookbook full of all your delicious creations? It will be a lot of work up front, but the great thing about a book is that once it’s done, you can sit back and wait for the sales to roll in.
Okay, well you definitely can’t sit back and wait, you’ll have to market the heck out of it, but if it’s something you’re passionate about, it shouldn’t be a problem at all! You can sell it on your own website, Amazon, or try to get it into a book store! I’m sure there are other platforms I’m not aware of as well, so make sure to look into it!
9) Teach a Weekly Class
Last year I went to an amazing event put on in Toronto by Young Women in Business and one of the panelists talked about how she started weekly craft classes for her friends. It eventually reached beyond her friends and became a great source of side income for her.
If there’s something you’re passionate about that you could teach others, start a weekly class and invite your friends! It could be anything from calligraphy to painting to knitting or acting. Get creative!
