I’m one of the only people I know who actually enjoys Mondays. I don’t get Sunday Scaries and I don’t remember the last time I had the Monday blues, however I DO understand why some people don’t enjoy Mondays. I used to get the Monday blues all the time in high school (I did NOT love high school at all) and working jobs that didn’t fulfil me or that I didn’t enjoy.
It’s a pretty bad feeling to dread the start of the week, and now that I love Mondays, I can’t imagine going back to that negative place. That’s why I wanted to put together a list of simple ways to enjoy Mondays. These are things that I do and things I’ve read or heard that other people do to beat the Monday blues! Sometimes the smallest things can make a huge difference!

1. Skip Cocktails and Caffeine on Sunday
It can be tempting to hold on to the last hours of the weekend by sipping some wine or having cocktails with friends, but it can make your Mondays even more of a struggle.
Alcohol and caffeine both disrupt your sleep cycle, so stay away from them on Sunday. That way you can get a good night’s sleep and wake up feeling rested on Monday! Take Sunday to actually relax and wind down so you can have energy for the new week!
2. Create a Morning Routine You Love
Mornings (especially Monday mornings) are a lot more enjoyable if you have a routine you love waking up to. I recently read The Miracle Morning by Hal Erod and have been implementing his suggestions into my mornings. Right now my morning routine consists of meditation, affirmations, visualization, a short yoga session, and writing in my Five Minute Journal.
Or maybe you’d just like an extra half an hour to be leisurely on Monday mornings. Wake up earlier so you can make a cup of tea, read your favourite book or magazine and write down your schedule for the week ahead. Find a morning routine that you love, and it will make Mondays so much better!

3. Get Your Blood Flowing
Carrying on from the Miracle Morning, on the days I know I’m not able to get a workout in, I’ll always do a quick yoga session on Youtube (usually Yoga with Adriene). This always makes me feel energized, happier, and ready to take on the day! I’ll look up videos such as “Yoga for energy” or “Yoga for productivity” to give my mind and body a boost.
Even a five-minute yoga session can make you feel so much better on Monday mornings! And it doesn’t have to be yoga – do whatever feels good for you whether that’s a walk outside, or a full on spin class. Getting your blood flowing will boost your endorphins so you feel happier all day!
4. Plan Something Fun for Monday After Work
Mondays are a lot better when you have something to look forward to at the end of the day! Plan to go for dinner with the girls, a fun workout class with your bestie, or a date night with your S.O. Your Monday will go by so much faster, and it’s good to stray from the norm of only planning fun things for later on in the week! We don’t take advantage of Monday outings enough!
5. Clean and Prep on the Weekend
Waking up on Monday to a spotless apartment, clean laundry and a full fridge makes the day so much less stressful! You won’t have to spend your Monday thinking about the groceries you need to get and how badly you need to clean your kitchen. Your weekend prep has a huge effect on how your Monday will go, so make sure to create a space you’re happy to come home to.

6. Think of Mondays as a Fresh Start
One of the reasons I love Mondays so much is I look at them as a fresh start! Mondays are the time to make new goals, plan your week, and get excited for what’s to come. There’s something about the start of a new week that makes me so pumped to jump out of bed in the morning. Take some time during your morning routine on Monday to write down goals you have for the week ahead.
This can be anything from going to the gym 3 times this week, to trying out a new recipe from your favourite cookbook, to finally getting started on your blog! (PS. Thinking of starting a blog? You have to check out my post on the ultimate guide to starting a successful blog!).
7. Do Something That Makes You Feel Good
Add something special into every Monday! Maybe that means going to your favourite dim sum spot for lunch, picking up some flowers on the way home, splurging on your favourite latte in the morning, ordering takeout to eat while you watch your favourite Netflix show, doing your favourite workout class right when the workday finishes…you get the idea. Whatever makes you feel good, make sure to do it on Monday!
8. Work on Your Creative Side Hustle
Do you have a side hustle you’re super excited about? Go to a cute cafe after your day is done to work on it! It’s never too late to start a side hustle, and if you’ve been thinking about you, you’re going to love my post on 9 creative side hustles to boost your income!
Whether you’ve always wanted to start an Etsy store, want to know how you can get paid to write online, or would love to teach a weekly class to friends, side hustles can be so much fun and also offer more income! (and what’s not to love about that?).
Mondays don’t have to suck. In fact, they can actually be quite enjoyable. It’s all about your mindset and routine! Try implementing these steps into your Mondays and beat the Monday blues once and for all! How do you feel about Mondays?
