Apple Crumble

IMG_4266

One of my favourite things to do in the fall is go apple picking! It’s such a fun activity and something that my family has always done together. This weekend I went with my sister, boyfriend, aunt and cousins to Applewood Farm in Stoufville. We went a little early this year so a lot of the apple farm was not quite ripe yet, but we still got a ton of apples, went on a wagon ride and had food from their on-site food truck. They also have a little market where they sell homemade pies and butter tarts, so of course we had to get a pack of those! (shown in the pic above). So with all these fresh apples, what better to do than bake an apple crumble?! Below is the recipe for a scrumptious and perfect-for-fall crumble that is sure to be a favourite in your household.IMG_4270

Mango Salsa

I’ve mentioned this in a previous post, but I want to start making my blog into a lifestyle site, focussing on things other than fashion. Style will still be at the heart of layeredindlugence as it is my passion, but I also enjoy other things like baking and home decor that I would love to share on this blog as well. For my first venture into lifestyle, I am sharing this mango salsa recipe. It is nothing extravagant, but super easy, fresh, and delicious, which is my top priority for meals in the summer months! One day while I was working at the tea shop one of the store’s regulars came in and told me about a mango salsa recipe she was going to try that night…the next day she came in, told me how delicious it was and wrote down the recipe for me! My boyfriend and I finally tried it for lunch on Friday and it was the PERFECT sunny day meal. Follow the recipe below, and I promise you will not be disappointed! If you try it out, make sure to comment and let me know what you think 🙂
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 diced mango
1 small red onion diced
1/3 cup cucumber diced
half a jalapeño pepper (or more or less, depending on how spicy you like it!)
1 tbsp lime juice
a pinch of salt & pepper
DIRECTIONS
dice everything up and mix together in a bowl…
Enjoy!
