Although the official first day of spring was back in March, we didn’t start seeing spring weather until a couple weeks ago here in Toronto. The beginning of every new season is always a time for me to “spring clean” my life; to get organized, set new goals, and declutter the parts of my life that aren’t doing me any good. Although it’s called spring cleaning, I use these steps at the start of every new season to keep my life on track!
Giving your life a spring clean is a great way to de-stress, re-charge and keep yourself on track to living your best and happiest life. Take a look at 5 ways to spring clean your life!
1) Evaluate Your Finances
Are you on track for your financial goals you set at the beginning of the year? The only way to know is to track them. If you haven’t started tracking your finances, today is a great day to start! Track the money that comes in, what and where you’re spending, and how much you’re putting towards paying off debt and your savings.
If one of your goals is to pay down debt, how is that progress going? Are you prioritizing saving? You should have (or be working towards) an emergency fund that covers your expenses for at least three months. Are you spending on unnecessary things (like buying lattes everyday instead of making your own coffee)? Evaluate what’s going well and what’s not. You may need to revamp your budget and work out how money can be redistributed toward your financial goals!

2) Check in on Your Career Goals
Are you happy in your career right now? If not, ask yourself why. Is it the work you’re doing? Is it the people you work with? Do you feel like you’re working at your highest potential? If the job you have isn’t making you happy or doesn’t propel you toward your bigger goals, it may be time to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to do something new. Whether that means diving right in to a freelance or entrepreneurial role, or applying for a new job that’s more in line with what you love to do, take some time to plan for your next step. Life’s too short to be doing anything other than what you love! If you ARE happy in your career, what can you do to challenge and push yourself to the next level?

3) Do a Mental Diet
Take note of things you’re feeding your mind every day. From social media to the people you talk to, to what you read on and offline, to what you listen to on your daily commute, eliminate anything that doesn’t enrich your self development. Ask yourself if what you read, listen to and watch is raising or draining your vibration. Does it motivate and inspire you? Does it make you want to do and be more? Or does it drain your energy? Create a list of personal development books and podcasts to listen to these next few months. Implementing these into my life on a daily basis has been life-changing for me!

4) Detox Your Friend List
If you have a friend (or friends) who are bringing you down and treat you badly, it’s time to reevaluate your friendship. This is one of the toughest things for some people to do, but it needs to be done. If you have friends who make you feel anything less than amazing and are constantly making you feel bad about yourself, it’s time to detox them from your life. It may be difficult now, but you’ll be much better off in the long run!
Do you have morning and nighttime routines that serve you well? What you do when you wake up and before you go to bed sets the tone for your everyday life. A healthy nighttime routine is key for a good sleep and energizing next day. Instead of watching Netflix, scrolling Instagram or working right up until you go to sleep, give your mind a break. Read a book, journal, meditate, visualize. Do whatever feels good for you and helps you relax. Your morning routine should get you ready and excited to take on the day ahead. Check out this post on how to create an awesome morning routine!
