Happy Friday, babes! Last week I sent out a survey to my lovely email subscribers, leading up to a super awesome blog project I have in the works. I was so excited that so many of you replied, and although I can’t say much about it yet, it’s clear that a lot of my readers would like to know more about ways to promote your blog post after you hit publish!
When I first started blogging, I truly thought that all I had to do was hit publish and people would magically stumble upon my blog. I would link my posts to my personal Facebook page and that was about it. Needless to say, I would get about 60 page views, on a GOOD day. Most days were between 0 and 20. Now I get between 600 and 900 page views each day and it’s only growing!
This isn’t due to luck, my friends! It’s due to hard work, consistency and knowing where to best spend my time promoting my content. If you’re stuck on ways to promote your blog post after you hit publish, check out 7 of my best tips!
Pinterest is my favourite way to promote my content and it has been the most beneficial. I receive most of my blog traffic from Pinterest, so I’m happy to spend time on it (plus it’s fun!). So how exactly do you promote your blog on Pinterest? Create at least one pinnable image for each of your posts (I create 2 to 3 for my most popular posts!). Having multiple pin images ensures you can constantly pin your posts on Pinterest without looking spammy!
As soon as a post goes live, I pin it to all of my relative boards as well as my Group Boards and Tailwind Tribes! Tailwind Tribes have helped me grow my reach and influence like crazy, so if you haven’t jumped on the Tailwind wagon (Tailwind is a Pinterest scheduler), I suggest trying out their 30-day trial to see how awesome it is!
Make sure you’re pinning your own content on a daily basis and create SEO-optimized pin descriptions for each of your pinnable images. This will help them get found and shared on Pinterest.

2. FACEBOOK GROUPS
Facebook Groups are my second favourite way to promote my posts! I’m part of a number of amazing blogger Facebook groups, and each one has a promo day where you can link your post from that week! I love seeing what other bloggers are up to and it’s a great way to get your content in front of new eyes!
Just make sure to read and follow the rules of the group! Don’t promote your posts on non-promo days, as this could lead you being banned from the group!

3. FACEBOOK PAGE
Anytime you publish a new post, share it with your fans on your Facebook Page. You might have heard that Facebook is dead, and maybe it is for the younger generations, but most millennials still use Facebook on the daily. I that’s your target audience, you better believe you can get traffic from there, and lots of it!
Make sure to tweet out your posts every time a new one goes live! The day a post is published, I usually tweet it 5 days that day. I use Buffer to schedule my tweets and I love it! Whenever you don’t have a new post going out, go back into your archive and tweet out old posts, you never know when one will take off! Consistently promoting your content is key to growing your blog!
And don’t forget to share the love! Make sure you are tweeting and re-tweeting content from other blogs and websites so it’s not just your blog posts all the time!
5. YOUR EMAIL LIST
Have you started an email list yet? If you haven’t, you need to ASAP! Unlike social media, you have complete control of your email list. The algorithms won’t change like they do with Instagram and Facebook and the people on your list truly want to be there! I usually send an email to my subscribers whenever I publish a new post! On those days, my traffic usually skyrockets to over 1,000 page views! I love my subbies!

Instagram is another great place to promote your blog posts! Did you know you can put a link to your posts right in your bio? Go to ‘Edit Profile’ and where it says ‘website’ place the link to the specific post rather than your home page! If your SEO is on point, it will tell your followers exactly what your post is about in the header title.
You can also create a specific Instagram post about your most recent blog post and tell people to click the link in your bio to read the post! If you have an engaged Instagram following, this is a great way to get people over to your post!
7. GUEST POSTING AND COMMENTING ON OTHER BLOGS
Guest posting on other blogs is a great way to extend your reach and get your name out there in the blogosphere, especially if you’re a new blogger. Most sites will let you use an outbound link to your own website, but just confirm it’s okay before doing so. Guest posting on blogs with a lot of traffic is a great way to get people over to your post!
Commenting on other blogs is another great way to get your blog out there, just make sure your comments are relevant and you’re not spamming other bloggers. If a reader asks a question and you have a blog post that answers the question, you can start a conversation with them respectfully lead them to your post.
If you were lost when it came to ways to promote your blog post after you hit publish, I hope this post has given lots of great ideas! If you’re consistent with promoting your content, your blog will no doubt grow like crazy!
