Happy New Year to all my lovely readers!
There’s nothing I love more than the feeling of a fresh start, which is what the New Year always brings. In 2016 I saw great personal and blog growth, and was introduced to amazing new opportunities that I can’t wait to explore further this year. I’ve started to treat my blog like a business (in the hopes it becomes one one day!) and I have so many plans and goals for my blog for the year ahead!
Writing down your goals and creating a strategy to follow through with them is one of the best things you can do at the beginning of each year. Without clear goals and an action plan, pretty much all you have is ideas floating around in your head.
I’m not going to share every single one of my goals for this year (some I’d like to keep to myself), but here are some of the major blog goals I’d love to achieve this year, plus how I aim to reach them!
BLOG GOAL #1
Reach 50,000 monthly page views by the end of the year.
Before December finished, I had a goal to reach 8,500 page views for January. I just checked out my Google Analytics report and I have hit over 10,000 page views in the last 30 days! My stats have been booming lately and to be honest, I’m nervous that one day it’s going to just taper off and slow down, but fingers crossed for continuous growth!
If my stats continue to grow and I keep implementing powerful strategies, I am confident I can hit 50,000 by this time next year!

Pinterest is the top referrer for my blog so I am going to be putting lots of energy into promoting my posts over there. Over the past 6 months I have been working on my Pinterest strategy and it has helped me go from under 1,000 page views per month to over 10,000 page views each month. Pretty awesome right?
I have taken a few courses to get me to where I am now: Pinning Perfect by Blog Clarity and Pinfinite Growth by Melyssa Griffin. Both have helped my Pinterest strategy so incredibly much and I’m not lying when I say Pinterest is traffic gold!

2. POST 2 to 3 TIMES PER WEEK
The more content you create, the more you are able to promote and grow your blog. An active blog is also more appealing to brands and collaborators who may want to work with you!
I am going to focus on creating long, helpful posts 2 to 3 times a week in the lifestyle and blogging categories. I steered away from lifestyle posts for a while, but I really miss them. So, while I will still be publishing lots of blogging, social media and entrepreneurial posts, I will also be bringing back more fashion, beauty and décor posts into the mix.
3. FACEBOOK GROUPS
I am part of some amazing Facebook groups that have helped me not only grow my traffic and engagement on my blog, but connect me to awesome like-minded individuals. Most of the groups have promo days where you can link your latest blog post and engage with others who link theirs.
I have found amazing posts and blogs, as well as really inspiring bloggers from these groups, so I will definitely continue putting time and energy into engaging within these groups!
BLOG GOAL #2
Use my DSLR camera for blog photos!
I own a DSLR camera, but usually take photos with my iPhone. I haven’t taken the time to really learn how to properly use my camera, so it’s one of my most prominent goals for this year!
There are so many helpful blog posts out there that explain all the features of DSLR cameras. I want to read about one different feature a week and practice taking photos so I can really get the hang of it.

2. ASK FOR HELP
I bought the camera form my sister and also have a couple friends who know how to work a DSLR camera. If they are willing, I would love to spend a day asking them questions and for them to show me the different things I can do with each feature!
Practice makes perfect, especially when it comes to something like photography. Once I have done my research and seek out help, I need to make time in my schedule to practice what I’ve learned. As I mentioned above, I’m going to be incorporated more lifestyle posts into my blog again and really want to use all my own photos, so I need to step up my DSLR game!
GOAL # 3
Create my blog course!
I’m not going to say too much about this one because it is still very much in the beginning phase, plus I want it to be a surprise, but I will be launching my signature course this year (hopefully the first half of this year) and I’m so excited! Stay tuned!
Grow my email list to 2,000 subscribers by the end of 2017.
I’m so excited to share that I have almost 550 lovely subscribers at the time I’m writing this post and my list is growing every day!
Having an email list is SO important as a blogger for so many reasons. One of the main reasons I love having my list is that I get to engage with my readers on a (bi)weekly basis. I send out a Friday coffee chat (which happens every Friday or every second Friday) where I share blogging or social media tips, advice, behind the scenes tidbits, special promotions, exclusive posts and more!
1. CREATE OPT-INS
A great way to grow your email list is by creating related opt-ins for your posts! I have created a number of opt-ins for a good number of posts, and will continue to do so for any posts that fit!
2. CREATE FREE PRODUCTS
I have already created a free Instagram Ebook, and 2 free email courses: “Double Your Blog Traffic in 30 Days” and “Working with Dream Brands”. I love creating valuable products for my readers and will continue to do so. It’s one of the easiest ways to grow your email list too!
3. CREATE CHALLENGES
I also want to start implementing challenges on my blog! Challenges encompass a set number of days where you are given actionable tips to reach a certain goal. You can create challenges for everything from fitness, to social media, to working with brands, to home cooked meals, and everything in between.
I have yet to create any challenges for my blog, but I want to start one up by the end of this month!
Focus on content creation.
One of the content courses I completed last year has been totally revamped and I’m a few lessons in. I want to fill in my editorial calendar for the first quarter of this year (I already have the next couple weeks completed!). It is so much easier to write blog posts when you have a plan set out in front of you!
1. FINISH CONTENT BREW COURSE
Over the next couple weeks I want to complete the Content Bew E-course so I can fill in my content calendar and fill out my social media schedule for the first quarter.
