Wow, I can’t believe it’s already the end of June! Time is seriously flying by, but I have to say I’m so excited for the next two months of summer! My calendar is filled with weekend getaways, music festivals, a family wedding, and a girls’ trip to Vegas. Do you guys have any exciting summer plans?
I don’t know about you, but as a blogger I find it fascinating reading about other bloggers’ blog growth. It really inspires me to keep moving forward and reminds me that everyone was just starting out at one point. Usually bloggers do this in the form of monthly income reports, but since I’m not making income from my blog yet I’m going to be putting together monthly growth reports.
One of the things I’ve learned this past month is to track your progress! It’s easy to go from day to day seeing similar numbers, but not really recognizing how far you’ve come over the past month. At the end of each week I’ve been tracking my page views and sessions on Google Analytics, plus my Pinterest Analytics, and have been really proud of myself!
Just over a month ago I wrote a post on how I plan to grow my blog. You can read it here.
It was at that time that I decided to start helping lifestyle bloggers grow their blog and business, so although I’ve had this blog for a few years, I’m looking at growth from when I started my new focus!
Read on as I break down my blog growth, what worked, what I learned, and my goals for next month!
Guys! I almost QUADRUPLED my page views from May to June! At the end of May I was sitting at 1,454 and as of last night I reached 4,709. That may sound like small potatoes for some bloggers, but for me it is SO exciting! I used to get 0 to 60 page views a day (usually closer to 0) and now I consistently get between 100 and 250 a day!
Goal for next month: 8,500 page views
Okay, so 8,500 seems out of this world to me right now, but if I almost quadrupled my page views last month, then perhaps I can almost double my page views next month. I like to go big with my goals. If you have bigger goals, you push yourself harder to make them happen! It’s going to take a lot of hard work but I think I can do it!
This month I posted 1-2 times per week for a total of 6 posts in June. I would really like to post at least 2 times each week. I know that quality is better than quantity, so I’ll focus on writing in-depth posts that really aim help lifestyle bloggers! Since I’ve switched my focus to blogging about blogging, I’ve been getting great feedback and comments on my posts, so if I write one great post a week I’ll be happy, but I’m aiming for two! The more posts you have the more you can promote and bring people to your site!
In the middle of June I created an email opt-in freebie (my Instagram ebook!) and started to grow my email list. As of right now I have 46 subscribers (if you’re one of them, thank you so much! If you’re not and you want to be, you can sign up to get my free e-book and access to my list for awesome blog + biz tips here!).
I sent out my first email to my list this week, which was also very exciting! I’m learning more about email marketing, so we’ll see how this plays out. Right now I’m using Mailchimp, which has been really great, but I’ve heard SUCH great things about CovertKit that I may have to switch over.
Goal for next month: 200 subscribers
I hope to reach 200 email subscribers by the end of July! I’m going to create more AWESOME opt-ins like work sheets and checklists to go along with my posts, plus I plan on writing another FREE ebook on growing a successful and profitable blog!
I also just invested in Thrive Leads, so I will be implementing new (and prettier) opt-in forms on my blog. I’m still going through tutorials and figuring it all out, but it seems like a great tool!
A huge, awesome post on all things Pinterest is coming your way, but let me just tell you that Pinterest has been a game changer for me! It is now the top referrer for my blog, I feel like it’s such a hidden treasure! It’s the best platform to promote your posts and you can reach such a large audience. At the end of May I had 682 followers, now I have 1,128. I’ve also reached over 100,000 avg. monthly views on Pinterest!
Over the past month I’ve really spruced up my account. I’ve branded it to fit me, updated my bio and board descriptions with keywords, and I work hard pinning quality pins to each of my boards. I absolutely love Pinterest and could spend all day on it, but unfortunately I don’t have time for that!
So I’ve been using Boardbooster (ps. that’s a referral link!) to schedule and loop my pins and I love it! I talk more about BoardBooster in this post! I’m also thinking of adding Tailwind to the mix, but I will keep you guys updated! I want to pin 50 to 100 pins a day, and I think Tailwind has more options for a cheaper price than Boardbooster – which is always good!
Goal for next month
The thing with Pinterest is, you don’t have to have a ton of followers to get sky rocketing page views. For example, Kristin at Believe in a Budget has just over 3.4K followers on Pinterest but gets over 200,000 page views on her blog each month (!!!).
I’m going to focus more on creating great pin descriptions and joining quality group boards! But still, I’ll make a goal to get 1.5K followers by the end of the month and 150K monthly viewers!
I’m also making my way through a couple of Pinterest courses. Once I’m done I’ll let you guys know how they go and if they’re worth it (they are so far!). It’s taking me longer than I’d like to get through them, but, life.
I think that’s it for now! I’m really happy with my growth over the past month, but I do have to admit it’s not all roses. I have SO much I want to do for this blog, but sometimes I get information paralysis because there is so much I want to learn and do.
I also want to create awesome resources for you guys like checklists to help you keep organized and ebooks to help you succeed! Bear with me while I try to get everything in order…lots to come I promise 🙂
Did you hit any blogging milestones this past month? What are your goals for next? I’d love to hear about them in the comment section!
